Life is filled with many ups and downs. It can bring many wonderful moments of happiness and fulfillment, but also loss, sadness, grief and hardship. Unfortunately, people often feel alone during the low points in their lives. Perhaps out of a fear of weakness or a desire to please others, they may want to be brave and strong in the face of adversity, resulting in feelings of isolation. Although they might appear to have it all together on the outside, they may be suffering on the inside, barely able to keep their heads above water. I’m here to tell you that it’s okay to ask for help, whether from a therapist or otherwise. I believe that no one should ever have to suffer alone or in silence.
Our culture often teaches us to sweep the unpleasant things in life under the rug, but it’s only when we learn to acknowledge the unpleasant things in life that we can begin to find relief from internal conflict. Right now you may feel stuck and think that change is impossible. But, I believe that with an open mind, hard work and a willingness to look within yourself, it’s possible to get back in touch with your version of normal and start enjoying life again. Everyday I see clients reap the benefits of therapy. One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is seeing people heal from past hurts and achieve a level of personal growth they didn’t think was possible.
I strive to validate my client’s emotions so that they can feel comfortable discussing painful feelings, thoughts and experiences. I offer a safe, supportive environment where your emotions and thoughts are valued. I have unconditional positive regard for everyone and believe that every client knows the most about him or herself. I can help you take a deep, introspective look at yourself so that you can find the source of your emotional distress and learn to process and work through negative thoughts and emotions.
I specialize in anxiety treatment, addiction counseling and grief and loss counseling. I believe that therapy should be a collaborative process between client and therapist. I am optimistic about the possibility of personal growth for everyone and believe healing is possible for you, too. I would be honored to serve as your guide, counselor and confidant as you heal, grow and create a more positive way forward.
